RJAE, hailing from New Orleans, shifts fluidly between hard-edged, boastful rhymes and melodic, heartfelt vocals while centering most of his work on emotional turmoil and romantic struggles. Early tracks such as the 2017 single “Not Enough” amassed millions of streams and quickly opened doors to a nationwide run of shows alongside NoCap plus membership in the Never Broke Again collective. That same blend of bravado and tenderness defined his first full-length effort, You’re the Problem, which Roc Nation released in 2023.

Born and raised in New Orleans, RJAE spent portions of his childhood in Memphis and New York before his family returned to their hometown. His father’s own experience as an MC sparked his interest, and he began writing rhymes during his teenage years. At age 16 a friend uploaded footage of an impromptu freestyle that suddenly drew hundreds of thousands of views. The 2017 release of “Not Enough,” which surpassed two million streams, coincided with the arrival of his B.A.E. EP. He made his first live appearance at New Orleans’ House of Blues and soon afterward opened dates for NoCap. The follow-up EP Northway surfaced in 2019; the next year he teamed with Quando Rondo on “Fallen Souljas.” RJAE joined the Never Broke Again roster and contributed to projects including The Compilation, Vol. 1 in 2021 and Green Flag Activity in 2022. A distribution agreement with Roc Nation paved the way for the 2023 album You’re the Problem, which included guest spots from A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Youngboy Never Broke Again.
