Born in New Orleans during 1999, Rob49 came of age inside the housing projects bridging the fourth and ninth wards, the numeric detail that supplies the second half of his stage name. Informal rhymes occupied his high school years, yet no recordings occurred until 2020, when an impromptu verse over a beat at a friend’s session exposed his skill and led to his own studio time within days. Material piled up quickly, resulting in the 2020 mixtapes Krazy Man, Vulture, and 4our the World, followed by 2021’s 4GOD. The 2022 studio album Welcome to Vulture Island represented his boldest statement yet, drawing guest turns from Lil Baby, Birdman, Doe Boy, and Babyface Ray. The 2023 follow-up 4GOD II added DaBaby, Trippie Redd, Icewear Vezzo, and further contributors. Vivid accounts of street hustling and sharp imagery drawn from Rob49’s own path from hardship to success fill his tracks, all generated after he began recording in 2020 and soon assembled an extensive catalog of mixtapes plus the studio effort 4GOD II.
