Rootabang, a Cleveland rapper, produces incisive and lively trap tracks that center primarily on wealth, one example being the 2018 breakthrough single “Money Long.” Tavio Jack first recorded under the name Young Roota and entered the scene in 2012 with the release of “Wah.” A prison term halted his work for several years, yet immediately after his release he reunited with longtime associate Preme Dibiasi to resume recording. In 2017 the pair issued the single “Get the Money” and the mixtape #OT6; the track “Money Long” from that project spread rapidly across the Midwest, leading the duo to sign with Roc Nation, which then put the song out as an official single.
