Biography
From childhood onward, Italian pop singer Silvia Salemi harbored ambitions of achieving stardom. During her time as a student at Palazzolo's university, she discovered ways to merge her academic pursuits with her deep interest in music. Her breakthrough arrived in 1995 when she won first place at Castrocaro's Festival performing "Con Questo Sentimento," after which she recorded her self-titled debut album in 1996 and issued the follow-up Silvia Salemi the next year. Her initial foray into group performance came with the Sicilian rock outfit Hot Stuff. At eighteen she relocated to Rome in pursuit of expanded prospects for her vocal career. In 1997 she contributed the track "Stai Con Me Stanotte" to the compilation Un Disco Per L'Estate and also served as the opening act for Simple Minds. Following the 1999 release of Caotica, journeys through the Caribbean and England sparked fresh creativity that shaped the songs on 2000's L'Arancia.
