Volt

The Paris-based group Volt blends the unpolished vigor of garage punk with forceful electronic rhythms and synthesizers, distinguishing itself from a German experimental metal ensemble sharing the moniker; its lineup consists of Lili Z., Jack Volt, and FX. During the mid-to-late 1990s, Jack and Lili performed with the garage outfits Splash Four and No-Talents, while FX contributed bass lines to Splash Four's final pair of singles and joined their American tour in 1998. Forming as Volt in 2002, the three musicians initiated joint recording sessions and live appearances, issuing a debut EP bearing the band's name by year's end. Subsequent years involved live performances across France and Germany alongside demo sessions; additionally, Lili Z. produced multiple solo EPs, and the trio featured on an In the Red compilation from 2004. In the Red put out Volt's follow-up self-titled EP the next year. Throughout 2006, the band collaborated onstage with comparable artists including the Intelligence and Duracell before entering the studio once more for their inaugural album, yet another self-titled release issued in spring 2007.
