Biography
British-Moroccan hyperpop provocateur Babymorocco crafts a stylishly trashy fusion of house and art-punk elements within his dance music. After completing art school studies, he drew early attention in 2020 before releasing the 2023 EP The Sound and the 2024 project Amour.
Born Clayton Pettet in Casablanca, Morocco, to an English father and a Moroccan Jewish mother, Babymorocco spent his childhood in Boscombe, Bournemouth, England. While still a teenager he began frequenting dance clubs, which sparked his enthusiasm for electronic and house sounds. An additional interest in visual art prompted him at age 18 to relocate to London and enroll at Central Saint Martins university. In 2014 he staged his debut performance piece, Art School Stole My Virginity, at Marylebone Gardens and simultaneously built an online following through provocative, sexually stylized self-portraits shared on social platforms. When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived he redirected his focus toward music, issuing his first single, "Iphone Song 5," in 2020. Two years later he joined True Panther Records and delivered his debut EP, The Sound, which spotlighted the track "Sun Sex Party"; around that period he also founded his own imprint, Phat Boy Records. His follow-up EP, Amour, appeared in December 2024 and contained the single "Babestation" alongside contributions from Frost Children, iKeda, the Femcels, and Tristan!
