Before issuing any mixtapes, Atlanta rapper Dae Dae already scored a breakthrough with the track he created called "Wat U Mean (Aye, Aye, Aye)." Although he had recorded in studios previously, his material stayed private until 2015. While employed in construction, he chose "Wat U Mean (Aye, Aye, Aye)" as his first release; upon its emergence toward the end of 2015, it gained traction locally. The addition of Young Dro to a remix propelled it to nationwide prominence during the summer of 2016. That year also saw him ink a deal with 300 Entertainment, followed by the issuance of the 4 Reasons mixtape. Later in 2016 came the tracks "Dej Loaf" and "Spend It," the latter of which got a remix featuring Young Thug and Young M.A. toward year's end. Kicking off 2017, he put out "Dem Days," a single aided by DJ Spiz.
