Louisiana-based R&B singer and rapper Dillyn Troy first drew notice through his presence as a social media personality, where he employed the Vine platform to highlight both his musical projects and his personal outlook. Having started his creative output while still a teenager, he produced solo material that fused moody, trap-infused elements of R&B and rap, and he also joined Will Got the Juice and Lucas Coly in the collective Diamondz. His path advanced from independently issued standalone cuts such as the 2013 track “In the Air” toward more structured arrangements showcased on releases including the 2017 album Tru Story.

Born in Louisiana in 1996, Troy was already creating music during his adolescent years. He maintained a strong social-media presence, relying on brief Vine clips to publicize both his individual songs and the material he made with Diamondz. Some of the first tracks he issued himself appeared around 2013, occasionally under the alias Lil Teezy. Early, unpolished singles such as “Grind Time” and “Crazy” later gave way to more developed work, including the full-length Tru Story in 2017 and the 2018 singles “On Me” and “I Know.” Fresh output continued into spring 2018 with the EP Progress, whose cut “They Can't” included guest vocals from his longtime associate Lucas Coly.
