During the disco heyday spanning the late 1970s and early 1980s, New York-based producer John Ferrara lent his hand to numerous recordings amid the flashy atmosphere surrounding Studio 54. Operating under his surname, he directed a series of tracks with a large-scale disco ensemble, reaching its apex in the 1979 album Wuthering Heights. This frequently neglected release offered a free adaptation of Emily Brontë's 1847 novel and paralleled other studio epics of the era that drew inspiration from classic literature. Around the same period Ferrara put out several additional singles, among which "Love Attack" remains notable. In 1982 he issued the single "I Gave My Heart to the Pacman," sparked by the contemporary arcade-game phenomenon and spotlighting Sally Hoo on lead vocals.
