Biography
Originally named Filip Cauwelier, vocalist and guitarist Flip Kowlier channels his abilities across several musical styles while also serving as MC for the hip-hop ensemble Hof van Commerce. Hailing from Izegem in Belgium’s West Flanders region, he launched a solo path once Hof van Commerce completed its second album, resulting in the arrival of his own debut Ocharme Ik during 2001. He then gathered dual drummers Joosa van den Broeck and Karel de Backer, bassist Pieter van Buyten, and keyboardist Peter Lesage to deliver the follow-up In de Fik on EMI in 2004. The same collective returned in 2007 with the full-length De Man van 31, which reached the number-two position on the Belgian charts.
