Emerging as a Latin pop artist known for his fluid vocal style, Matt Hunter launched his professional journey during his teenage years via the 2013 EP Right Here, Right Now. His focus remained on individual tracks for much of the decade until the 2017 major-label release of "Amor Real." Massive streaming success came in 2018 through the Lele Pons duet "Dicen," with additional momentum from joint efforts like the 2020 track "Suave" alongside Corina Smith and 2021's "Malas Decisiones" featuring Danny Felix.

Matthew Hunter, who entered the world in New York during 1998 with roots tracing to Colombia and Italy through his parents, started vocalizing practically from infancy. His New Jersey upbringing included mastering the piano, guitar, and drums, followed by a childhood appearance on Baby Einstein. The year 2009 brought him the part of Diego in Dora the Explorer, leading to involvement in the related Go, Diego! Go! series. Over his time with those programs, he began sharing self-recorded performances of songs with guitar accompaniment online, which helped cultivate a significant following across Latin America.

Transitioning away from screen work toward music full-time, his initial single "Mi Amor" came out in 2011, succeeded by the Plaza Independencia-issued EP Right Here, Right Now in 2013. That same year included a sold-out headline performance at a Chilean arena during his South American tour. Millions of streams accumulated for "Mas Que Tu Amigo" in 2015, and at age 18 the next year, Marc Anthony offered public praise in U.S. media. The 2017 single "Amor Real" marked his entry on Universal Music Latino.

Subsequent hits involved partnerships such as the Venezuela's Lele Pons collaboration "Dicen" from 2018. Releases in 2019 encompassed "Cazador" with Lenny Tavárez and "Una Vez Más" with Tommy Boysen, plus the hip-hop-infused "Problemas" uniting him with GASHI and Big Soto. Activity persisted into 2020 via "Entera" with Carla Fernandes and "Toca" joining Byron Salas plus Kobi Cantillo. September brought "Suave," another duet, this time with Corina Smith. Opening 2021 was the Danny Felix team-up "Malas Decisiones."
