Real Boston Richey blends the regional slang and rhythmic patterns of his Florida upbringing with sharp punch lines and beats that echo the trap aesthetic long associated with Detroit. The Tallahassee native began releasing material in 2021, and early tracks such as “Keep Dissing” and “Certified Dripper” quickly accumulated millions of streams. Those songs paved the way for the 2022 album Public Housing, which included guest verses from Future and Lil Durk. His first project under a major-label contract, Welcome to Bubba Land, appeared the following year, while the 2024 single “Help Me” later surfaced on the album Richey Rich.

Jalen Foster was introduced to rapping by his cousin and mentor Slugg, who was fatally shot in 2015. Foster nevertheless waited until 2021, when a friend convinced him to enter a recording studio for the first time. That session yielded his debut track under the name Real Boston Richey, “Big Y.I.C,” which was soon followed by “Bullseye.” The March 2022 release “Keep Dissing” paired his distinctive, gravelly delivery with icy strings and warped drum-machine beats, rapidly drawing millions of streams. Subsequent singles “Everybody” and “Certified Dripper” established him as one of the most prominent Tallahassee rappers to emerge since T-Pain, even after Richey moved his base to Miami.

He joined Future’s FreeBandz imprint and issued Public Housing in August 2022. The set featured Future alongside Lil Durk, Kodak Black, and Moneybagg Yo, and it reached the upper half of Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. An expanded edition, Public Housing, Pt. 2, followed in 2023. That same year Richey dropped the EP Trapping & Finessing along with the singles “5 Star” and “My Image.” Welcome to Bubba Land, his initial Epic release, arrived in September. He then teamed with YTB Fatt for “The Type.” After guesting on C Stunna’s 2024 track “Lose Control,” Richey issued the solo single “Help Me,” which became his first Billboard Hot 100 entry at number 47. The album Richey Rich, containing appearances by GloRilla and Lil Yachty, debuted at number 48 on the Billboard 200.
