Biography
Emerging from Atlanta, Georgia’s turbulent streets, 21 Lil Harold deploys raw freestyle Southern rap as a deliberate departure from the crime and violence that marked his upbringing. After gaining wider notice through the 2021 release Larry, he followed with further projects, among them 2024’s Sick of Myself.
Harold Glenn was born in the Summerhill neighborhood, though his family roots lie in nearby Decatur on the city’s east side. His earliest encounters with hip-hop came through his late father, who installed speakers in the family car to play 8Ball & MJG, Master P, and Fiend at full volume. Drawn to the production style of Metro Boomin, Glenn secured his initial major opportunity when he appeared as Lil’ Harold on 21 Savage’s 2015 track “Whoa.” Close friends who shared ties to Atlanta’s 2100 Street Gang, the pair’s connection later prompted Glenn to adopt the “21” prefix.
Since its founding in 2017, 21 Lil Harold contributed behind the scenes to Savage’s Slaughter Gang Entertainment. He launched his own recording career in 2020 with the Metro Boomin-produced EP Keep It 21, which included appearances by Real Recognize Rio and Young Nudy. March 2021 brought his first major-label project, Larry, issued through Epic and Sony Music under the Slaughter Gang banner. The title honors a mutual friend of Harold and Savage who was killed in a 2011 shootout; every song on the album bears the name of someone acquainted with that individual. A June 2022 reissue and expanded edition helped drive Larry past five million streams within eighteen months of its original release. During this period 21 Lil Harold dropped the standalone single “Desperado” and appeared on Chino Cappin’s “Ed Edd Eddy.”
November 2022 saw the arrival of “Robbin Season” and “Damn,” early indicators of the next project, After the Curse, which surfaced in January 2023. Additional 2023 tracks included “Hall of Fame,” “GTA,” and “You Gon Hurt Me.” In 2024 Harold collaborated with JID on “Sundown,” with BigXthaPlug on “Gin & Juice,” and with Quavo and G Herbo on “One in the Head,” all of which featured on that year’s Sick of Myself.
