Biography
Solo Lucci, the Atlanta rapper recognized for his woozy and hypnotic singles, achieved his breakthrough in 2015 via the track “Whip It.” Beyond a string of strong mixtapes, he also appeared on the 2017 season of VH1’s rap reality program Love & Hip Hop before redirecting attention toward music with the 2019 release The Recipe.
Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Lucci relocated to Atlanta and initiated his recording career in 2012 with “RIP Tupac.” Once the video for that track surpassed half a million views, he marked the moment by issuing the 2013 mixtape Fuck Your Favorite Rapper. The following year he collaborated with singer Akon on “Killaz & Drug Dillaz,” a cut that appeared on his mixtape Life After Death. He then delivered the single “Whip It” in 2015. Two notable features arrived in 2016, as Lucci joined Chris Brown on “Wrist” and Young Thug on “Special.” Although his output dipped during his time on the fourth season of Love & Hip Hop, he still secured one of his more prominent singles with 2018’s “Cash Money,” followed in 2019 by a remix that added Juvenile, Turk, and Beenie Man. That July he issued The Recipe, a 15-track mixtape containing no guest appearances besides Lucci himself.
