German electronic artist BUNT. crafts party-oriented dance tracks that pay tribute to the late Avicii while echoing the early work of funky predecessors Justice, Basement Jaxx, and Calvin Harris. Launched in Stuttgart as the duo of high school friends Levi Wijk and Nico Crispin at age 16, the project initially drew from Swedish House Mafia’s festival-house momentum and enriched it with folk instrumentation such as banjos and harmonicas. Their 2014 singles “Journey” and “Harmonica” already mirrored Avicii’s style, while 2016 cuts “Old Guitar” and “Coming Home” merged EDM with the spirit of Of Monsters and Men or Mumford & Sons; “Young Hearts” added saxophone, and Celtic hues surfaced on 2018’s “On My Way” and “Little Secrets.” The pair broadened their folk-house palette with horns, fiddles, and influences from soul, pop, and Latin music, scoring early international traction via “Unbreakable” featuring Clarence Coffee, Jr. and “Crocodile Tears” with Jens Hult.

Nearly a dozen releases had built a substantial following by decade’s end, prompting a Geffen deal and the 2019 label debut “Oh My Other.” Collaboration with Seattle R&B band the Dip yielded the rootsy “Sure Don't Miss You,” and a sample of Buena Vista Social Club’s Omara Portuondo on “Cuba (Tiene Sabor)” introduced Latin accents. After moving to Interscope, BUNT. issued 2020 singles “Crocodile Tears,” “Unbreakable,” and “Nights Like That” featuring Georgia Ku, followed in 2021 by “Out of Time” with Diviners and Tom Bailey plus “Hurricane” featuring Hon and SMBDY. Nico Crispin exited that May, leaving Levi Wijk to continue under the BUNT. name as a solo act.

Wijk maintained a steady single output, issuing 2022’s “Say You're with Me” with Frida Amundsen before the 2023 Arista debut “Clouds” featuring Nate Traveller became a major streaming success and reached the Top 15 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The follow-up “Lost My Mind (Wake Up)” with Elley Duhé appeared alongside both tracks on the Renaissance EP. In 2024 Wijk released the album Levi Don't Do It and the non-album single “Trippin'” featuring Mapei.
