Christian Alicea

Born in 1996, Puerto Rican salsa singer Christian Alicea entered a household steeped in music, where his father, percussionist José R. Bosque, directed the veteran tropical group Maiken. Surrounded by performance from an early age, Alicea joined the band for tours and vocal spots while still in his early teens. He later spent five years working as a fireman, yet the pull of music proved stronger, prompting a relocation to Medellín in pursuit of a solo reggaeton career. During that process he recognized his deeper connection to salsa, shifting instead toward traditional tropical styles shaped primarily by Marc Anthony while retaining select urbano touches. Singles began appearing around 2019, but his breakthrough arrived in 2022 via the tracks “Vuelve” and “Cobarde,” both later featured on his debut album Yo. Issued in 2023 through Therapist Music, the project includes contributions from Maffio, Nacho, Rafa Pabön, DJ Nelson, J Alvarez, and additional collaborators.
